Frequently Asked Questions
What is an English Golden Retriever?
An English Golden Retriever is basically a golden retriever with European bloodlines. Both American Goldens and English Goldens are the same breed but with different bloodlines which is why there is some differences.
Some studies have been done that have shown the English Goldens tend to have calmer personalities, longer lifespan and their coat color is often lighter with a more blocky head and stocky body. This is not across the board though as it really depends on the dogs pedigree and the longevity of their ancestors.
English Goldens are known for their therapy type personality, willing to please attitude and overall an excellent family dog. They do shed, and usually about twice a year they will shed significantly more as they get rid of their winter coat in preparation for the warmer months.
What will my puppy come with?
Our puppies are AKC registrable and come with a 1 year health guarantee, a small blanket with their sibling/mom’s scent on it, small bag of food they are used to eating(Purina One Large breed puppy food) and records of their vaccination and deworming (2,4,6, and 8 weeks).
Our puppies are vet checked as well before they go to their new home. For puppies going out of state, we will provide a health certificate from our veterinarian.
We will also send you over email some helpful training tips that we have put together from our experience for crate training, introducing your puppy to your lifestyle and socializing tips.
What is the price range of your puppies and how does the waiting list work?
Our puppies are $2,300 for limited (pet) registration. Full registration is available on a limited basis for an additional fee to approved breeders.
We offer 1st, 2nd and 3rd pick reservations for males and the same for females. Once those spots are filled we then start a waiting list. When our female is confirmed pregnant, we ask for those on the reservation list to send a $300 non refundable deposit to secure your spot.
When the puppies are born, we will contact everyone on the reservation and waiting list with a photo of mom & puppies. In the case that there is no puppy for you, you can either wait till our next litter or we will refund the $300 deposit. Otherwise, deposits to hold your puppy are non refundable.
We do our best to also send different updated photos as the puppies grow and until you select your puppy at 5-6 weeks of age.
Puppies that are over 5-6 weeks old and available will be listed with their individual photos on our website and can be reserved by filling out our questionnaire or contacting us.
After securing your spot with the $300 deposit, the final balance is due at date of pick up. We accept cash, Venmo or Paypal. *Paypal is subject to a 3% fee.
How are your puppies raised and are they well socialized?
Yes! Socializing is something we are very aware of and do our best to expose the puppies to many new sounds, sights and smells. We also introduce them to baths, nail trims and being handled as well as car rides. We generally start early potty training at about 4-5 weeks by training the puppies to go at a certain area with pine pellets in their sleep/play pen so they learn early on to keep their play area clean. Obviously they are not perfect but it does instill early training concepts. Our puppies are outside playing in the grass weather permitting or spending time in their playpen inside playing with toys.
Our puppies are not raised inside our home but we have a climate controlled mini barn with all the amenities needed to provide a controlled and safe, home like environment.
It is my goal to provide you with a happy and well socialized puppy. We strongly encourage our puppy families to provide a positive atmosphere for their new puppy without overwhelming them. Socializing includes new places, new people, and sounds that come along with a positive approach such as treats or praise.
Providing a controlled environment and especially making the experiences positive will go a long ways in the future to help your puppy become a well adjusted adult.
How does the selection process work?
We start our puppy selection process when the pups are 5-6 weeks of age. Before this, we will keep you updated with random photos and updates as the puppies grow, through email or text.
We start our selection process with letting 1st pick for males and 1st pick for females choose their puppy and move in order down the list. Puppies are able to be told apart by their color collars that we put on them about 2 weeks of age.
Families are welcome to come to our home to pick their puppy out or we can send individual photos of each puppy and videos to help out with this process. I am also carefully observing the puppies as they grow and will be able to tell you a lot about each puppy’s personality, energy level etc. We do our best to make this process as simple as possible and we also want to provide you with as much info about each puppy, so you can make a well informed decision for your lifestyle.
Do you offer shipping if I am not able to come get my puppy?
We do prefer if families are able to come to our home to pick their puppy up at 8 weeks of age.
However, we can work with you on a case by case situation; we are glad to meet you up to 3-4 hours from our place for an additional fee. We can also meet you at the airport if you are wanting to fly here and fly home with your puppy.
Depending on the situation, we could also fly the puppy to your closest airport for an additional fee. Fees would vary due to different flight costs and availability of a good flight. Please contact us if you are unable to pick your puppy up and we can do our best to work with you.
